STRATEGY FOR THE DAY: speak softly and carry a big pointed stick

Driving back to Los Angeles tomorrow. I've had a wonderful visit in northern California. The weather started out cool then yesterday it suddenly turned hot and dry. Perfect weather for lying out by the pool which I managed to do although it took a great deal of self discipline ;-> I read ("The Templar Treasure at Gisors" by Jean Markale) and did some research for an upcoming project. Got tired of watching the birds pick all the ripe apricots off the tree so we ended up harvesting 4 or 5 bags of fruit and gorging ourselves while jeering at starlings. We made up for it later by giving them a special bird bath float in the pool. Do you think they were grateful? Not a bit.

I spent Monday morning posing for a portrait painting class my sister is taking. It's an odd sensation holding perfectly still for 90 minutes while people peer at you from all angles. We went out to lunch afterwards and I was starving. Decided it was hard work and artists' models should be paid a lot of money.

Been playing all the new albums I brought up with me - Yulara, Laurel, Acoustic Alchemy, String Planet. They sound great especially when underscoring a gorgeous sunset. So I've had a fine vacation and am ready to go home. I just hope I can hold onto a little of the peace and beauty - at least for a few minutes after I get back.
