STRATEGY FOR THE DAY: mix fun with fun

Tomorrow I'm giving a songwriting workshop in Ventura, a beautiful, sun-warmed, slow-moving California beach town. One of my favorite places! I have friends there so I'll be staying over Saturday night. Here's a little "email virus poetry" to keep you amused while I'm gone.

Email virus poems are found poems based on email viruses (those spam emails filled with strings of nonsense words). In a previous journal entry, I included a little number titled "Who Is Hackett?" I have now begun adding a few - a very few - words to bridge the fabulous raw material created by email worms. Here's the latest...

"INNUMBERABLE HACKETTS"

Your migratory gadgetry.
bushwhacked in fragrant Elsinore,
sent political sculpture to prickle my anatomy.
The doorkeeper was bodybuilding
when his dialup paymaster
phoned the CIA.
Glaucoma invaded the clockwork.
Actual Coney Islands fluttered
in defeat.

The inertial bridegroom
was but an eccentric eyelet
in the Freudian, midwestern Bavaria
of your sighs.
Hieroglyphic content arced,
finding a scarce Cairo
Where is your imagery, Ginsburg?
Hoagie sings.
Earthmen revolt.
And innumerable Hacketts invade
the pluperfect.
